DSH ENTERTAINMENT, INC.® in association with The A.D.H. Foundation, Inc. Presents:

On July 25, 2015, in The Harold Washington Cultural Center, on 4701 S. King Dr., Chicago, IL. 60653, the world famous poets who were a part of the 1960’s and early 1970’s Black Power Movement, and who are credited with being the “Godfathers” of the “Hip Hop” music genre, “The Last Poets” are coming to Chicago, IL. to perform some of their most memorable recorded poetry.  Doors open at 6:00 pm and the show starts at 7:00 pm.

The Last Poets have been cited as one of the earliest influences on hip-hop music. Critic Jason Ankeny wrote, “With their politically charged raps, taut rhythms, and dedication to raising African-American consciousness, the Last Poets almost single-handedly laid the groundwork for the emergence of hip-hop.” The British music magazine NME stated, “Serious spokesmen like Gil Scott-Heron, Gary Byrd, and the Last Poets paved the way for the many socially committed Black [emcees] a decade later.” To read the entire Wikipedia article on “The Last Poets,” go to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Last_Poets
